CHRISTINA RICCI BIOGRAPHY

In a world where child actors are usually destined only to be shooting stars, Christina Ricci stands out as an adult cross-over success. Perhaps it’s because even her childhood roles were “unnervingly accurate” and played with “uncanny maturity.” Ricci was “discovered” by a movie critic during a primary grade school pageant, did one year of commercial work, then was cast, at the age of ten, as Cher’s youngest daughter in Mermaids (1990). That career start lead to a part in The Hard Way (1991) and then to stardom as Wednesday Addams in The Addams Family (1991) and Addams Family Values (1993). Her deadpan delivery, arresting features and superb timing served her well and led to The Cemetery Club (1993), Casper (1995), Now and Then (1995), Gold Diggers: The Secret of Bear Mountain (1995), Bastard Out of Carolina (TV - 1996), an episode of The Simpsons (voice, TV - 1996), >The Last of the High Kings (1996), Little Red Riding Hood (1997), and That Darn Cat (1997).

It was with her next movie, The Ice Storm (1997), that Ricci broke the ice, so to speak, and began an adult career as a dark princess of independent films. Eight movies in 1998 -- Souvenir (voice), Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas, Small Soldiers (voice),Desert Blue, I Woke Up Early The Day I Died, Pecker, The Opposite of Sex and Buffalo ‘66 -- established Ricci as “one of the best actresses” and as the Sundance Film Festival’s “It” Girl. As well, she received a Golden Globe nomination for her “delightfully loathsome” work in The Opposite of Sex. 1999 began with Ricci hosting the documentary, The Stars of Star Wars: Interview With The Cast, then continued with two more offbeat independent films -- 200 Cigarettes and No Vacancy It was back to mainstream (and on to blondness) with Tim Burton’s gothic Sleepy Hollow.

The year 2000 had much in store for Ricci fans. The actor formed her own production company and started working on writing screenplays. Sine then Christina has bounced around the movie world starring in Dramas, Comedies, and Indy flicks. Next she will be seen in "Cursed." Directed by Wes Craven and written by Kevin Williamson, Cursed is set to be the next big horror movie since Scream. Christina stars opposite other hot-young-things Skeet Ulrich, Shannon Elizabeth and Portia de Rossi. A compulsive talker and smoker who seems to have a new and refreshing view on every subject, the buxom Christina is becoming a top box office draw and seems to be destined for super-stardom in the new century.
